Hi, I’m Doreen Anderson!

Hi! I am Doreen Anderson and I teach Instrumental Music at Central Lutheran School. I recently “retired” after 35 years of teaching Band at CLS, Belle Plaine, Mount Vernon, and Cedar Rapids Community Schools. I am so thankful that I was asked to join the staff at CLS-retirement is boring!

My instrument is french horn, and I have been blessed to play in many wonderful ensembles over the years, including the Hawkeye Marching Band, Orchestra Iowa, the Omaha Symphony, and the Cedar Rapids Municipal Band. One of my favorite playing “gigs” is at Theater Cedar Rapids, where I play in the pit orchestra. My trombone-playing husband, Doug, is an insurance agent in Newhall, and we have three children who all attended Central Lutheran. Our daughter, Jenny, is married to Brandon, and lives in Bentonville, Arkansas with our two grandsons, Steven and Alex. Our son, Ben, is a loan officer at Veridian Credit Union and lives in Cedar Rapids; and our son, Wes, and his wife, Victoria, have a daughter, Darcy, and they are teachers in Jefferson, Iowa. I love to read mystery books, watch British mystery shows on TV and grow all sorts of flowers.

I don’t have a favorite Bible verse, but one of my favorites is 2 Timothy 1:7, “For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.”
