Greetings from Melanie Maddick, the fourth-grade teacher at Central. I graduated from Concordia University Chicago, IL with degrees in Early Childhood and Elementary Educaion. I have taught Preschool-4th grade in single and multi-grade classrooms, as well as 5th-8th grade in single subjects of all kinds.
The teaching journey brought me to many different schools that were in the areas near my husband’s LCMS pastoral ministry. I have taught at Woodburn Lutheran, Woodburn, IN, Trinity Lutheran, Wisconsin Dells, WI, Central Lutheran, Newhall, IA, Clemons Lutheran, Clemons, IA, and St. Francis Catholic, Marshalltown, IA.
Pastor Maddick joined his heavenly Father after a bout with cancer. My son, David and his wife Amber, are both Lutheran educators. Their three girls attend David’s school where he teaches 4th grade. Amber teaches high school art. My daughter, Bethany has a Lutheran teaching degree in middle-level education, and she is currently a teacher’s assistant at Roland Story.
I enjoy reading, Bible study, sewing, gardening, and traveling with my family. In my life’s journey my confirmation verse continues to be my favorite verse: Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:33. I find much happiness in Growing in Grace at Central Lutheran.
